Michelle has been writing for Australian television since 2002 – as a writer, story editor and script editor. She was recently awarded the Richard Lane Award for outstanding service and dedication to the Australian Writers Guild at the 2018 Awgie Awards. She won an Awgie for Best Original Miniseries East West 101 (S1) and has received two NSW Premier’s Literary Award nominations and two QLD Premier’s Literary Awards for eps of East West 101, as well as further AWGIE nominations for Rush and EW101 (S 2 & 3). Her EW101 ep The Price of Salvation, was shortlisted in the 51st Monte-Carlo Television Festival. Her work has screened on all Australian networks with credits across several genres and demographics. Crime miniseries include Hyde and Seek, East West 101, Rush, Tricky Business, murder mystery Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries and the action adventure drama Wild Boys. Michelle has written for animation series 100%Wolf, Tashi, The Wild Adventures of Blinky Bill, children’s live action series Conspiracy 365, Sam Fox and Playschool (ABC). She is a regular writer on the serial Home and Away (CH7).
Before turning to screenwriting, Michelle trained as an actor at WAAPA and ventured into live stand-up comedy with an appearance on the late night stand-up comedy series Something Hot Before Bed.
Michelle is co-creator on crime series – Ashbrook, Del Fricker (optioned by Werner Film), an historical family drama The Smiths of Collingwood (optioned by Shine, development funding from ABC Drama), and a comedy series Traces of Nuts – which was accepted into the AWG Pathways Program and selected for Scripted Ink Development funding.
