Matilda is a graduate of Film and Television at Swinburne University and Screenwriting at RMIT. Her first film, which she wrote and directed, How God Works, was a Tropfest finalist in 2010 and screened nationally in the US on Starz network. She followed this with Cocks (2011), One Thing (Tropfest 2012) and AM I OK (2011) which aired on SBS and opened the 2012 St Kilda Film Festival.
Matilda’s Lessons from the Grave, a television short series she wrote and directed aired on ABC 1 in 2013 (series one) and 2014 (series two). The series was also picked up by Qantas in-flight entertainment and most recently acquired by Presto. She wrote and directed Let’s Talk About, a 10 part drama short comedy series about being up the duff in a relationship that’s only just begun. The series was commissioned by Presto and starred Matilda, Richard Davies and Bryan Brown. It was also acquired by Virgin and Foxtel Play and garnered Matilda a 2016 AACTA nomination for Best New Talent. Series 2 will be available on Foxtel Play in December of 2016. In 2017 she directed The Caravan, a 7 part short series written by Richard Davies and produced by the Offspring team for the Channel 10 Play website. Matilda is developing a half hour series for television.
