Kris Wyld, Screenwriter and Producer, has been involved in the creating, scripting and producing of a number of award winning, ground breaking television drama series.
After completing a Bachelor of Communications at University of Technology in 1984, Kris worked in the field of documentary, but her passion was drama.
In 1988, Kris joined Roadshow, Coote and Caroll as part of the Drama Development team, headed by Sue Masters, working on the development of feature films and television drama. Kris was part of the writing team that created the long running multi award winning series G.P (1989-1996) and the mini-series Paper Man (1991) before embarking on a stint of freelance script writing.
Kris was lured back by Ben Gannon and Mike Jenkins into becoming the Script Producer on the gritty teen drama Heartbreak High before winning an AFC Creative Arts Fellowship to gain more film experience. She was attached to Penny Marshall at Columbia (Sony Pictures) in LA, and Working Title Films in London.
A long and fruitful creative partnership began with Steve Knapman when Kris returned to Australia to work on the creation of the landmark series Wildside. Kris was both writer and Script Producer. Wildside won many Awards, including AFI Best Drama, both seasons, Best Mini Series, and Most Outstanding Drama, Logie.
The collaboration between Knapman and Wyld continued after the close of Wildside. Together, they formed the company, Knapman Wyld Television and created and produced a number of successful drama series, including White Collar Blue, (Network 10, 2002-2003), The Strip, (Network Nine, 2008) and East West 101 (SBS TV, 2007-2011).
East West 101, which ran for three seasons, was critically acclaimed and won many international and national Screen Awards, including an AFI for Best Mini-Series, AFI for Best Series and the first AACTA Award for Best Drama Series. Season 2 also won Most Outstanding Drama in the Logies and also several international Awards.
Kris was Co-Producer, with Peter Butt, of the acclaimed Who Killed Dr Bogle And Mrs Chandler (ABC TV, 2006), a documentary that uncovered the answer to a fifty-year mystery that had become part of Australian folklore. Watched by two and a half million viewers, it was the most watched documentary ever screened on ABC TV and went on to win the 2007 Logie for Most Outstanding Documentary.
Kris wrote Dangerous Remedy, a 100 minute telemovie for ABC TV (Producer: Ned Lander Director: Ken Cameron) that went to air in 2012. Dangerous Remedy was based on a true crime story, in which a doctor takes on a corrupt establishment, in cahoots with a powerful and corrupt police force, his actions ultimately bringing down king pin figures of the elite Homicide Squad.
Kris has written a psychological crime thriller feature film for David Elfick and Palm Beach Pictures – Butterfly Sting and has been working in development with Producer, Tony Ginnane and co-writer, Tim Knapton, on a gangster film entitled Boss. In 2017 she was co-producer / writer / co-creator on Pulse for the ABC.
