Eddy Bell has worked in film, commercial and music video production consistently and widely since 2003. In 2013 he graduated (Valedictorian) from VCA and was awarded The Lionell Gell Foundation Scholarship which funded his short film Grey Bull . The film won the graduating year Panavision and Orloff Trust Awards for best Undergraduate Screenplay and best Screenplay (amongst the entire Faculty of Film and Television) respectively. Eddy was the 2014 recipient of the Rouben Mamoulian Award for Best Director Short Film at the Sydney Film Festival for Grey Bull which scored additional wins as Best Australian Short Film at 2014 Melbourne International Film Festival, Best Australian Short at Flickerfest, Best Direction in a Short Film at the 2015 ADG Awards and as the Craft Award winner at St Kilda Film Festival. The film also received nominations for the 2014 AWGIE’s (for Eddy’s screenplay) and the 2015 AACTAs. Other short films made at VCA include Incumbent King, Pre Nup, The Republic of Simon (Sydney Sci Fi Film Festival, Boston Science Fiction Film Festival) and Tickets (St Kilda Film Festival, Gympie Film Festival) all of which Eddy both wrote and directed.
Eddy is developing a self penned feature film and has completed another short – I’m Raymond which screened in the AACTA Social Shorts program and in the Five Australian Highlights section at Flickerfest in 2017. He continues to work regularly as a commercial director based in Sydney.
