Darren has recently returned from Dubai World Expo staging cultural shows at Al Wasal Plaza for Artists in Motion. Currently he is in pre-production for Joseph and His Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat which opens in Tokyo April 2022. He will direct The Last Five Years for La Boite Theatre, Brisbane, opening in June. (He is currently a part of the Artist Company at La Boite). Later in 2022. He will direct two new Australian works; Yong, The Unworthy Son, for Monkey Baa Theatre opening in Ballarat and The One by Vanessa Bates for The Ensemble Theatre. He is currently in a creative development for a new opera, Riot by Michelle Law and Paul Hodge for Opera Queensland about the Chinese Riots in Brisbane in 1888. In 2020-2021 Darren directed Next To Normal for NIDA; the re-mount of Jesus Wants me for a Sunbeam for The National Theatre of Parramatta at Belvoir Street and Double Delicious for The Sydney Festival and Contemporary Asian Australian Performance.
Darren is a Director and Actor who has worked in the Australian and overseas industry for more than 30 years. He is deeply passionate about the live theatre experience and an audience sharing in the moment, sharing a story. Darren feels diversity in our stories is essential if we’re going to bring new patrons to the theatre.
